As events all over the world become postponed or canceled, health experts continue to recommend social distancing and quarantine as a form of combating the Coronavirus.

Many states have chosen to enact shelter-in-place orders, urging citizens to stay home as much as possible during a given time period in order to prevent a bigger spread of COVID-19.  While staying home can be relaxing for some, for others it can cause stir-crazy feelings, and can even lead to changes in mood and behavior.

Here are 20 ways to maintain creativity and boost your mood, even when stuck inside!

1. Get outside!

While going outside for most non-essential activities may not be in the cards for the time being, many state Governors have deemed it essential to spend some time outside during quarantine.  Going for a hike, a bike ride, or simply taking a walk around the block is a great way to boost your mood and give yourself a change of scenery.

2. Work on a Puzzle

It is easy to get in the habit of lounging around when home all day, especially when it seems like there may be nothing to do.  Working on a puzzle can help to exercise your brain, stimulate your problem-solving skills, and improve your memory, as well.

3. Schedule a Call with Loved Ones

During this time, it is exceedingly important to stay close to those you love and care about. 5. Create fun-filled, themed family dinners

With more family time during quarantine, things can get quite interesting.  Mix things up with themed family dinners!  Themed dinners can be a fun way to relax and enjoy your family’s company while creating fond memories, as well.  A few theme ideas are dressing up as your favorite movie character and impersonating them for a night, having one family member host an at-home “five-star dining experience,” or having a family dinner bake-off competition.

6. Learn a New Language

If you are not currently working from home (and even if you happen to be), this is a great time to start learning something new.  Learning a new language can be a fun way to expand your knowledge and culture.  Apps such as Duolingo provide the ability to pick up a new language free of charge.  The app can be found online, or on both Android and iPhone devices.

7. Create a Holiday-Themed Craft
