Eric Vermeulen is the Executive Director for IMHF. He holds a B.A. and a J.D. from Indiana University at Bloomington, and has worked in various management positions for the Indiana Health Care Association, the Indiana Department of Health, and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. Eric is a Past Master of Frank S. Land Lodge #758, is a Past President of the Murat Shrine DeMolay Unit, and is currently serving in the Rose Croix Line of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite. He is also a member of Indiana DeMolay’s Grant-Hamill Foundation Board of Directors, and is the Advisory Council Chairman for Speedway DeMolay. Eric and his wife, Andrea, have three boys—Jake, Griffin and Owen—and live in Brownsburg.
Eric Vermeulen started as a Development Officer for IMHF in April of 2016.
Eric grew up in Whiteland, and began his Masonic journey there in 1980 as a member of Centennial Chapter, Order of DeMolay. His first Chapter Dad was Leonard Hatfield, a longtime supporter of the Indiana Masonic Home—and eventually a resident—who instilled in all the DeMolays a strong sense of devotion to the Home through regular volunteer work.
Eric was Master of Frank S. Land Lodge #758 in 2010, and President of the Murat Shrine DeMolay Unit in 2014. He currently serves as Junior Warden in the Rose Croix Line of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite. DeMolay also continues to be a focal point for Eric as a member of Indiana DeMolay’s Grant-Hamill Foundation Board of Directors and as Chairman of Speedway Chapter’s Advisory Council.
During nearly a decade with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, Eric served as Director of the agency’s Morgan County office, Regional Manager for West Central Indiana and State Deputy Director for Family Preservation. He later worked as Director of Member Services for both the Indiana Health Care Association, a trade association representing for-profit nursing homes in Indiana, and for Sigma Theta Tau, a worldwide nursing honor society based at the IUPUI campus.
Eric and his wife, Andrea, were married in 1997, and they have three boys, Jake, Griffin and Owen. They live in Brownsburg, along with their dogs, Zeb and Olive, and they attend All Souls Unitarian Church, where Andrea is a Past Board President. Jake was elected State Master Councilor of Indiana DeMolay for 2016-17, and Griffin is moving through the progressive line at Speedway Chapter.
Having earned a B.A. in English and telecommunications from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1989, and a J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 1994, Eric has been an IU football season ticket holder since 1985. He is ever optimistic that a Rose Bowl berth for the Hoosiers is just a season away.
