Jeffery P. Zaring has served as Executive Director of the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation since May 1, 2011.
A native of Indianapolis, Jeff attended the Indianapolis Public Schools. His undergraduate and graduate studies were at Indiana University, Bloomington, and the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis. While a law student, he was employed by the Indiana University Police Department and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
He began a 33-year career with the Indiana Department of Education in 1977, working first as a consultant to police school liaison programs. At his retirement in April 2011, he served as Chief of Results and Reform and State Board of Education Administrator. His responsibilities included implementing federal and state school accountability laws, including the federal No Child Left Behind Act, and guiding policy development for the Indiana State Board of Education as its executive director.
Jeff was raised in Brownsburg Lodge No. 241 F&AM in 1978 and served as Worshipful Master in 1983. He also is a member of Calvin W. Prather Lodge No. 717 in Indianapolis. In 2008-2009, he served as the 158th Grand Master of Masons in Indiana.
He was created a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33°, in September 2004, and served as the Potentate of Murat Temple in 2005. Other Masonic memberships include the Prather York Rite bodies, Sahara Grotto, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Red Cross of Constantine, York Rite College, Yeomen of York, Allied Masonic Degrees, National Sojourners, Heroes of 76, and the Royal Order of Scotland. He is the High Priest of the Hendricks County York Rite chapter, U.D. Jeff is a Past Patron of Brownsburg Chapter No. 266, Order of the Eastern Star.
Jeff and Margie, his wife of 37 years, live in Fishers. Margie is a member of the Executive Committee of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Association and a member of the PEO Sisterhood. Jeff and Margie attend First United Methodist Church in Noblesville. His primary hobby is playing the bagpipes with the Murat Highlanders.
